The first appointment with the Via Clinic is called an “initial consultation”. These are one to one sessions with a psychiatrist and will normally take an hour and a half and explore a patient’s history and concerns. A report will be written following the discussion that will be circulated to those who have been given permission to read it, including the patient’s GP. After the consultation a treatment programme will be designed that will specify the relevant therapist, who will be a specialist in the area, any medication requirements, and the date at which it is to start.
